My first grade teacher at Booker T. Washington Elementary School organized the “Try It, You’ll Like It!” Club.
While my hobbies including bossiness and telling people I was going to be the leader, I was really not a very prominent member of the organization. I was the pickiest eater ever. I not only didn’t like the proverbial it, I sure didn’t try it either.
This resulted in my expulsion from the club.
I am not what one could call an adventurous eater, per se, now. But my tastes and palate have dramatically matured in the last year or so. I will generally try new things now. Such as potatoes: it turns out that potatoes really do taste like fries even though they look crazy different.
A friend and co-worker recently introduced me to this condiment that completely changes the taste of food. It’s this stuff called mustard. Blows my mind. I’ve even stopped putting wasabi on sandwiches in favor of dijon.
